Parks, Playgrounds, Witt Trail & Dog Park
Nine parks, four playgrounds, and a variety of wooded and green areas are available for residents to enjoy at their leisure.
There are multiple picnic sites and shelters around the lake which provide a quiet natural setting for relaxing with friends and family.
The parks are beautifully maintained and are where you can also enjoy a combination of nature and healthy activities. All the parks have picnic tables and some offer boat access points as well.
Besides the Rec Center, additional playgrounds can be found at Friendship Park, Whiting Park, and the Outpost. You can also play half-court basketball at these three parks.
The Dog Park provides a wonderful spot where Dogs and their “human pets” can interact socially and safely.
Nature lovers- are you looking to explore more outdoor activities? Enjoy the symphony of songbirds and the beauty of native wildflowers and wildlife as you stroll Witt Trail located across from Oak Tree Park. Take in the beauty and tranquility of our other parks: Castaway Park, Inlet Cove, Highland Valley Green, and Little Park on the Prairie. For those seeking a connection with nature, Candlewick Lake has plenty of options to enjoy.
In addition, you can walk, run, or bike ride down the nearby Long Prairie Trail. It’s a 14-mile paved path through Boone County and is part of the 500-mile Grand Illinois Trail. A local favorite, Rock Cut State Park is a short drive away.
Step outside and enjoy all that Candlewick Lake and the surrounding area have to offer.
